Dr. Wilhelm Reich Wilhelm Reich (March 24, 1897–November 3, 1957) was an Austrian psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and author, later a headstrong natural scientist (orgone research). His book, Character Analysis (1933), is still a major psychoanalytical text, even if Reich was excluded from all psychoanalytic organisations in 1934.
