Angel
This is my darling sweet Angel Her story is a pretty heartbreaking one Found at the edge of a golf course starving dying of heartworm and terribly neglected and malnourished the SPCA was going to put her down they just didn t have the funds to help such a sick dog Fortunately Angel had a fairy godmother a foster parent who took her in and found a vet who would treat her for a reasonable fee Angel almost died of pneumonia in between immiticide injections and had a smoker s cough to the end of her life When we adopted her she had a tremor in her back legs malformed front legs that made her kind of dance when she walked she had had at least 4 litters of puppies and probably more and all her teeth were broken Our vet said that she was probably a puppy mill breeding dog and that she chewed the bars of her cage apparently lots of dogs develop obsessive compulsive disorders when they are caged Certainly she was a constant licker the floor us the furniture the grass We only had Angel for 3 and a half years She was not a young dog when we adopted her and all the health problems caught up with her too soon Those rotten teeth were just too far gone and she developed what we now suspect was stomach cancer This picture was taken at the beach 4 years ago at her healthiest when she was finally looking at us and interacting with us and actually snuggling on the sofa with us I am posting this for a good friend who also took in a pet like Angel and who now may be losing him I think it takes a pretty special person to see beyond the tremors and the peeing and the illness to see another animal who wants to love and be loved in return to take in a pet who is past triple overtime and into the shootout I don t know that we really knew what we were getting into when we adopted Angel but you adopted your baby with eyes wide open I know it hasn t been easy to have a pet with special needs and he has been so lucky to find you you are both so lucky to have found each other
