Heh I found these while unpacking the boxes today It s the mold of my teeth that was made pre braces The chip was actually on the REAL tooth it just became snaggled in the move But still fact remains they were seriously jacked up

Orthodontics Over

This is the last shot of anything orthodontic in my mouth You can see the little hole where they extracted the impacted canine the oral surgeon felt that there was little likelihood that it would actually move as desired For the benefit of the weak of stomach I let my mouth heal for several days before taking this photo The next day I had the arch wire removed and it s a wonderful thing So what to do about the missing tooth I ll probably get a temporary tooth sometime next month after I get a chance to see a dentist Maybe in a few years I can afford an implant or a bridge

Orthodontic Update

On Tuesday I went in for an adjustment but a materials failure had broken off my tether between the appliance and the embedded canine on Saturday night This is the updated rig which required about 2 hours to fix up if the orthodontist had realized how hard it was going to be he would have sent me to the oral surgeon again The orthodontist had to grind off the prior layers of bonding material and the metal bracket and the bonding material extended below my gums And then my mouth kept bleeding and it took extra injections of local anesthetic which contains epinephrine to stop the bleeding enough that they could bond a new bracket onto the embedded tooth Now instead of a gold power chain I have a very tough type of elastic power chain which is actually much more comfortable The extra loop that you can see here hanging off the hook on the appliance has since looped itself over the tip of the hook This makes the entire thing a whole lot more comfortable than the prior arrangement which involved steel ligatures i e sharp pointy wires in my mouth Nothing sharp now
