BBC WM skin cancer interview
Hopefully going out on Monday s breakfast show on 95 6FM in the Midlands a recorded interview a different perspective on skin cancer We have to stop talking about the sun as we can t control it we must focus on the things we can actually do something about like national screening programmes and the ABC of melanoma <a href= http www moleaware org >Are You Moleaware < a> More and more young people are getting melanoma the most dangerous form and it s really not because we keep sunbathing quite the reverse in fact with office workers being at far higher risk of Melanoma than non melanoma skin cancer and a lot of UV exposure isn t from sun bathing it s from day to day stuff like walking Melanoma is also claiming increasingly young lives simply because the cancer is detected too late and that s because we only hear about the sun but it s skin cancer not sun cancer We don t hear about skin and what to look for what does skin cancer actually look like and would you pass off a mole as not being cancer I did The interview I hope is a fresh perspective on how to get people to focus on their skin and not the sun

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Not being the most confident of people I kind of shy away from getting my bristols out for the world to see but October is in fact Breast Cancer Awareness Month and although it s a horrible truth we ve all been touched at some point in our lives by the devastation that cancer can bring through research and understanding step by step and little by little those in the know are researching and working on treatments which will hopefully eventually result in a cure Take a look here <a href= http www breastcancercare org uk content php page id=2211 >www breastcancercare org uk content php page id=2211< a> for what can be done to help and even better after my recent discovery of my love of the colour it involves lots of PINK Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in the UK after non melanoma skin cancer and over 44 100 new cases are diagnosed every year Breast cancer claims the lives of 12 500 women each year in the UK Men can also get breast cancer but it is rare around 335 cases are diagnosed each year
