Shot by Steven Kopelman David Clow Triathlete Now that just sounds funny right Anyway I completed yeah I d say completed not competed in the 2007 Chilli Challenge at the Montour Preserve in PA It s a Bike Kayak Run tri So now I can talk about annoying things such as split times and such that nobody cares about except for other annoying triathletes The event was gruelingly fun I was happy to finish and avoid the DNF did not finish Quitting was never an issue if you know me at all you know I m too damn stubborn for that There was much ballyhooing during the weekend concerning my tri training regiment so I ll go over that here along with the high low lights of the event Lets see daughter Sara and I joined a gym in June I usually make the gym about twice a week I haven t lost any weight numerically but my strength numbers have gone up leading me to believe that at the least I ve replaced some fat with muscle Let s see in June I struggled for 12 push ups now I m hitting 36 I went to spin class about 3 times in July but then Johnny Hustle joined the gym and all that nonsense stopped as we got into racquetball Other training highlights I don t do any running my knees don t need the punishment I bought a used bike but the race was the first time I rode it except for once down my driveway It was also the first time for shoe clips suicide shifters and on a 21 speed for that matter I was a bmx kid The tri was the first time I ever was in a kayak although I did a lot of canoing age 13 16 However I have been playing Kickball beer pong and flip cup at a professional level for about a month and a half The night before the tri Tri Eve Hung out drinking beer until around 2 30am then up at 7am for the tri wheee Early am at the tri parking lot Lots of people in spandex and too tight clothes not this guy I had on my standard kickball attire with a different t shirt and no knee brace The race starts with a 30 yard run to the bike staging area then everyone jumps o
