No cure for cancer
This is difficult to post but I need to make myself do it I found out Wednesday kind of accidentally that Cosmo has lung cancer I m heartbroken to say the least and just hope that he stays well enough that we ll still have a few months together I noticed Tuesday evening that he was kind of nursing one of his paws and it looked a little swollen so I though he might have sprained it or gotten bit something in the basement I brought him to the vet Wednesday morning and they did some x rays of his paw and saw that he had a condition called quot hypertrophic osteopathy quot which manifests in the paws of cats or dogs that are suffering from lung cancer This was confirmed by lung x rays although it techincally is a presumptive diagnosis There s no real way of saying how much longer I will have him here but I don t think it will be more than a few months if I am very lucky and if he is as strong as I think he is He s 14 and I don t want to put him through the agony of getting a biopsy or chemotherapy or even a second opinion I saw the x rays with my own eyes and it s clear He has small nodules spread out in his lungs and there is no way to go in and get them out Thankfully although there are a few things going on that we do need to treat loss of appetite general quot not feeling great quot and the hypertrophic osteopathy he doesn t appear to be suffering any pain from the cancer The other things we can treat with some prednisone and then gauge how he s progressing Right now I m nursing him back from the stress of Wednesday and the drugs they had to use to sedate him for the chest x rays He was back at the vet today because he was dehydrated and not boucning back like he should so my vet who is wonderful gave him subcutaneous fluids and a stronger injection of prednisone vs the pills I gave him yesterday and I m happy to say that several hours later I can see a difference I m hoping to see continued improvement as we go through the weekend I really need him to get his appetit
My First Time
So now I m on day 8 of my 21 day cycle Here s what my 21 day cycle is for anybody who wants to know <a href= http lymphoma about com od treatment qt beacopp htm rel= nofollow >lymphoma about com od treatment qt beacopp htm< a> I had went into the hospital for chemotherapy again yesterday the Bleomycin and the Vincrisitne I was so terrified first just because it was the first time they were going to use the port a cath ever I m still having trouble getting used to it it s weird having a hunk of plastic in your chest and you really can feel it all the time especially when you re trying to get to sleep my boobs always press against it haha P I ve only had the port in since Thursday though so I m sure it s just something I m going to have to get used to Anyways besides just being terrified of the idea of this plastic hunk of junk and just how uncomfortable it feels for someone to hold it and move it around inside you the chemotherapy was excellent Nothing like IV s at all IV s suck Last time I had to get an IV they missed my left hand 16 times and then they moved on to my right hand and didn t get that one in until the 6th time there were nurses huddled around me too because I was freaking out so much It really did hurt a lot They thought I was going to pass out but the port a cath they put emla numbing cream on the port they just hold it with their hand and put the needle in The end Didn t feel a thing So something to look forward to for me is no more IV s Thank god My first time getting chemotherapy through my port or just using the port in general wasn t so bad haha
