Elvis and his twin brother were born January 8th 1935 Drugs for Hol I took Holly to Exeter Hospital for her Chemo session a couple of weeks ago It starts with a simple blood test If her blood cell count looks good they give her Atiavan for nausea In the beginning they gave her Emend Emend costs over $100 per pill She took 3 pills Her first week she was administered Adriamycin and Cytoxin This continued every two weeks for 2 months After this phase She was given Neulasta to increase her white blood cell count Holly said the Nurse told her the Neulasta shot cost $10 000 two days after the Neulasta shot she went to the supermarket passed out and returned to the Hospital for observation She also had shortness of breath Now she is taking Taxol once a week for 3 months she ll be done in March Holly is also on a clinical trial It is a Double Blind Study Phase lll trial of Doxorubicin amp Cyclophosphamide followed by Paclitaxel with Bevacizumab or a placebo Her health plan doesn t cover Procrit so last Monday she received two pints of whole blood to increase her red blood cell count She is looking better Better than this picture shows

Bugsy Report Lean

Bugsy Report Well here it is exactly one month since my lovely little Bugsy had his ultrasound and confirmed with Lymphoma In May 2007 he weighed a healthy robust 16 pounds and he is now hovering around 9 pounds Which would not be a bad weight for some cats However Bugsy is a fairly muscular big male manx under normal conditions This photo shows his body and the definition of his hind quarters far too lean He has had 5 rounds of chemotheraphy and is due to skip a treatment today However this past week has not been his best so I photographed his little body from the back while he is resting The Bugsy files is a way to journal through his progress and the pictures will aid me in seeing his best and difficult weeks Perhaps his journey may assist another pet lover with their cat or dog As Red~Star my Flickr Friend went through a similar process with quot Pearl quot her cat His last report was positive The latest drug introduced to him last Friday was quot Doxorubicin quot His little body has not tolerated it well He may have to have another trip back into the Specialist for a quot Look See quot Lymphoma is nasty and I do pray my quot Little Bug quot will have lots of better days ahead Only a couple of times this week he had short spells of peace and cheekiness in his eyes this is truly a process I try to ensure he picks up on positive feelings from me as I tell him many many times that he will get better again We forge ahead together fighting for his little life and pray the nasty cancer will go into total remission It is a process I am hopeful my next report will have good news
