Today is the date of my friend Leslie s birth She was a dear friend a wonderful mother wife sister and daughter that lost her battle to breast cancer Her story is amazing courageous and tragic She became a mother after years of trying and doctors Then later was blessed with a pregnancy that was a surprise to all During that pregnancy she was diagnosed She started chemo during her pregnancy and the labor was induced at 7 months and gave birth to a healthy beautiful baby girl When you met her you instantly loved her She was beyond intelligent quirky and never had a bad thing to say about anything or anyone She was on heard the street and in markets saying quot I have a baby you have a baby I ve met some other women with babies let s start a group quot from that day forward the most of us have remained close in one way or another I miss her madly and think of her often Her young children and husband have moved to France they spent many years there together before becoming parents and are doing well We had a visit from them last year and hope to see them this summer as well Her life was amazing and describing her is impossible Her bravery courage and will to live have become part of me and anyone that was fortunate enough to meet her Her own words From the diagnosis on I was surrounded by the love of friends and family so I still feel their reverberation inside me like the silence when the organ stops playing in a church it s going to echo and stay a part of me for a very long time I am propelled forward by hope the love of others and a deep primal determination to be with my children Leslie Furth Her battle was chronicled by her husband a journalist in the Orange County Register s Health amp Fitness section Archived
