District 9 proves that there s intelligent alien life in the movie universe this summer �� Entertainment Weekly YOU ALL SHOULD GO SEE THIS Best movie of the year IMO A great example of how fresh science fiction can be when it s not just handed over to the special effects team and then the marketing division District 9 is far from perfect but every frame in it drips with ambition energy and vision MSN District 9 does a lot of things right including giving us aliens to remind us not everyone who comes in a spaceship need be angelic octopod or stainless steel �� Roger Ebert District 9 fuses science fiction mayhem and biting social commentary as well as any film since Starship Troopers It s the rare alien invasion story that has the aliens running scared �� AV Club But don t just go on my opinion alone here s what some others are saying about District 9 the sort of film that gets your brain working again in time for the big fall thinkers but still maintains the summer spectacle by serving you a futuristic out of this world experience This is perfect late summer entertainment �� Produced by Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings and directed by the talented up and comer Neill Blomkamp in his debut District 9 won t revolutionize the genre but it s a small intelligent movie with big ideas and lots of eye candy If Transformers Revenge of the Fallen was this summer s unsatisfying all you can eat buffet then District 9 is the special dinner you save up for once or twice a year It s the kind best paired with a delicious glass of wine as the flavor of the food literally explodes in your mouth with each bite If there ever was a weekend to take in a movie this is it There s literally something for everyone in theaters beginning this Friday with tween pics like Bandslam romantic dramas like The Time Traveler s Wife raunchy comedies like The Goods Live Hard Sell Hard animation for the kiddies like Ponyo and my personal pic of the week the imaginative low budgeted sci fi flick District 9

OBSESSION Humans are interesting creatures For thousands of years we 8217 ve managed to maintain this character trait that can be so destructive 8230 but on the flip side can be extremely productive Obsession can lead unimaginable works of art Obsession can also lead to death of the person obsessed or the person they are obsessed with Or even the death of innocent bystanders such is the case in the movie pictured above We 8217 ve all experienced it to some degree Maybe it was a pair of shoes you saw on sale but didn 8217 t buy Or a boy in high school that wouldn 8217 t give you the time of day But when thoughts of any one thing dominate your life 8230 I must say 8230 it gets a little creepy As a bride to be I am completely opposed to allowing myself indulge in thoughts of wedding planing for more than a few hours a week As the date nears 8230 I may up that to a few hours a day And yet millions of women fall into wedding obsession mode moments after that ring is on their finger Their every waking moment is devoted to floral arrangements and seating arrangements Why is that Is it that same mechanism that drives eating disorders and over cleanliness When is does it cross the line into Obsessive Compulsive Disorder I do think our society is too quick diagnose and medicate many people who just need counseling and to be given some tools on how to self monitor their behavior But when does it cross the line When does passion for a particular activity or person turn ugly I believe we are witnessing a new era of subtle and secret obsession One that does not kill bunny rabbits and may not cause any harm at all to anyone other than the person experiencing the obsession And they may not even know that it 8217 s gone that far But the definition of obsession according to Merriam Webster is a persistent disturbing preoccupation with an often unreasonable idea or feeling nbsp nbsp broadly compelling motivation I have been reading an assortment of blogs the last few weeks 8230 and found some that are

Merlin is a 14 month old Blue Great Dane Some of his likes are ice cubes chasing tennis balls and chasing me or being chased while I am on a 4 wheeler He also loves peanut butter in his kong We live on almost 5 acres and he loves running beside the 4 wheeler His tempermant is great Loves my two boys 8 and 9 and likes being around people and other dogs We try to keep him socialized so he does not lose his love of people He barks when someone approaches the house but stops as soon as he sees it is ok I do watch Cesar and try to follow a number of his methods Another method I adhere to is NILIF Nothing in life is free Merlin does not have any toy food location aggression I can place his food down and he sits and waits for a release command so he can eat I can removed his food while he is eating as well and he does not show any signs of aggression at all He is a very well mannnered dog

I have to admit I was intrigued by this which was done by an onsite company for three dates of their UK tour with 1000 copies for each night Setup wise it could have been better and after a 20 minute wait amp much confusion over where to queue i paid my cash and was given a ticket and told to type in my details in their laptop which was kinda slow and their system could have been easier says my inner geek but all this was pre gig luckily there was only one support and i got there early it so didn t matter too much Apparently you could order it online in advance so i guess that would have eased the queue but it wasnt widely known from what i saw Anyhoe post gig I picked up my copy 2 cds in the little digi pack with the promise of a copy of the single in the post early march as it was a bundle thing though tbh it would have been easier just to stock them altogether as a tour preview or something So I caught the train and I played it the next day who carries a cd player anymore and was quite impressed as the recording comes out with well balanced vocals with 17 track set split between the two cds I would be interested to see what the other 2 shows turned out like but a £20 a copy along with single amp poster or £15 for the cd on its own I think they will have to lower the price if they want a larger appeal
