UP Salt Creek Trestle
Wood chips were prevalent throughout this long northbound load being hauled by five UP engines over Willamette Pass in Oregon In what is being considered by some as the worst natural disaster to disrupt an Oregon rail line a massive landslide occurring on January 19th 2008 on Coyote Mountain just a short distance from Salt Creek trestle destroyed 60 acres of forest land along with 1 600 feet of UP rail line The landslide severed UP s main line through the Cascades and halted all rail traffic including Amtrak s Coast Starlight between California and Washington Some rail line was buried under 20 feet of mud and trees More than 2 3 million cubic yards of mud and debris an amount the size of a football field reaching as high as the 108 story Sears Tower in Chicago is expected to continue causing the 15 daily trains to experience one to two day delays as they are being detoured through Bend and Salt Lake City Rail service is not expected to be restored until late March or early April

Beautiful Oregon
A beautiful scene along the Oregon coast took three tries to have the weather cooperate but I loved the results such a scene
Southern Oregon Coast
I just got back from a 3 day trip to the Central Southern Oregon Coast It was my first trip to the area and it really is much nicer than the Northern coastline in my opinion Didn t get any clouds or really dramatic skies this trip bu I will be heading back in the future for sure This particular spot was a bit gnarly I was sitting on the edge of a cliff lodged in between some tree roots with 15 20 foot waves crashing directly below Not to mention that it was a pretty steep boot path to get there in the first place There was a family of goats grazing on the cliffs behind me for the 2 hours I was in this area but I didn t have a long enough lens to capture them properly My website is still under development but my most recent work is now available at <a href= http www jesse estes com >www jesse estes com < a> Canon 17 40L 20 seconds at f 14 B+W ND3 3 stop reverse GND
