F 18 FDG PET study of the whole body scan revealed moderately increased accumulation of F 18 FDG in supraclavicular area neck mediastinum costovertebral junctions and intercostal regions The so called BAT brown adipose tissue pattern was recognized The reasons could be resulted from the stress or cold temperature BAT cells express beta 3 adrenergic receptors in addition to bezodiazepine receptors The reason for BAT activation may be related to sympathetic activity for thermoregulation anxiety or both Diazepam may act by reducing anxiety in these patients
