Utah juniper

Another picture from our trip to the southwestern US in July 2005 This tree was in Arches National Park taken at sunset with the windows section in the background of the photo The tree is a Utah juniper <i>Juniperus osteosperma< i> Thanks to Bryant Olsen for the correction on the ID At this point we only had one digital camera a Canon G3 for both of us so we traded back and forth with it Neither of us can remember who took this photo In any case it s probably my favorite photo from the trip I have a large version hanging in my office and I love looking at it I highly recommend Arches National Park Perhaps not in July though We were there in one of the hottest periods on record it was 112F this day So we mainly stuck to early morning and late evening which is fine because the light is better then anyway On Explore interestingness for May 21 highest ranking 29
