CIN 3 With Gland Involvement

This lady had a negative Pap in 2007 The most recent Pap 2009 is a SurePath which was called ASC US atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance by a highly experienced subspecialty boarded cytopathologist On review there are a few naked hyperchromatic nuclei which may correlate with the lesion but otherwise the Pap is pretty bland Clinicians seem to like SurePath better than ThinPrep because with SurePath you just break off the collector in the holding medium while you have to do some swishing and swirling to inoculate the ThinPrep medium I have been certified to read SurePath for only 10 months so I am reserving final judgment but from what I have seen so far I think SurePath is considerably more treacherous than ThinPrep on the interpretive side and my provisional recommendation to clinicians and patients is to insist on ThinPrep By the way I don t have any material interest in either product However I do have a material interest in getting the right diagnosis which is why I m recommending ThinPrep
