A Positive TB Skin Test

A Positive TB Skin Test

This is what a positive TB skin test looks like 10mm with slight induration upon palpation Guess what It s all mine I have to have a TB skin test done every three months to rule out exposure since I work in a coronary intensive care unit Since I ve been at college I ve had this reaction to the PPDs placed however they always used to be ruled as negative because they were lt 10mm and weren t indurated When I went to employee health today it was finally ruled as a positive skin test It doesn t necessarily mean I have TB the positive skin reaction can mean a lot of different things and it isn t the most reliable indicator of TB anyway but it means that somewhere along the way I ve been minorly I say this because my arm isn t an ulcer from the test exposed to it Because of the way each floor I ve had clinicals on has been set up it isn t likely that I was exposed during my time at school What <i>is< i> more likely however is that I was exposed during a trip to the Philippines prior to my freshman year of college after which I started having these weird PPD results Now I m off to have a chest X Ray which will most likely be completely clear since I m not coughing up blood or having nightsweats or any of the other wild symptoms tomorrow and I m going to start taking the INH after July 4th Why then Because my 21st birthday is on the 1st of July And antibiotics and alcohol don t mix
