My journey with Trouble is ending
Trouble is dying I just got back from the vet and it was confirmed with an ultrasound that he has a large mass on his kidneys The vet offered to do a biopsy but there is no point Surgery is not an option for the size of the mass and chances are he would not survive the surgery I had the option of putting him to sleep but I cannot bear the thought of that right now Please don t tell me I should because I cannot handle hearing that right now I pray that he will pass on to his next journey peacefully in this sleep My heart is broken right now All the years I have had pets no pet has ever touched my heart the way Trouble has He is so young still and I feel that he should have been on this earth more time but sadly this is how nature is I haven t been able to sleep or eat I know I should be taking care of myself too but I have been by his side since Saturday He is pretty much lethargic and not eating much He was very active in the critter keeper at the vet and almost seemed like his old self I want him to go in his sleep and go peacefully I love him so much and wish I could have more time with him but if he isn t healthy or happy then I want him to go to sleep forever This is possibly one of the hardest experiences so far in my life that I ve had to endure This is killing me and the tears will not stop I could not stop crying at the vets and the staff and the veterinarian were kind enough to tell me not to be embarrassed and that my love for Trouble was obvious I think they were touched in a way that someone would love a small creature so much I feel anger at myself now I can t help that I feel I should have noticed this sooner The mass was not like this a week ago It grew so fast I don t know what my views in religion are but if there is some god in this world I want to know why this god would take one of the things in this world I love more than anything Trouble you are my sweet bear My little angel I love you so much I hope in some way you know this

Hospital Cruddy News
I really don t like hospitals My sister almost died in one when I was 17 It was awful She was there for a full month and in a coma for almost all of it She came out ok in the end but it was the worst experience I had ever been through at the time Not long after that my mother in law got put into the hospital and had to have a triple bypass More rough stuff Luckily she made it out fine too other than dietary restrictions I was next with the twins We were all having separate issues After a couple of weeks they induced labor and they were born prematurely Matthew was in the ICU for several days with breathing problems but Moira was fine from birth Matthew gave us several scares but you would never know it nowadays There s been a few others mixed in there as well Now my father in law is in there He had part of his colon removed Unfortunately at this point we believe he has permanent kidney problems It was preventable That s what s even more upsetting He was given a Bowel prep agent two times Once was for the colonoscopy The next time was before the surgery The problem is that he is 70 They gave him a Concentrated phosphate solution both times These can cause renal failure This is what is happening to my father in law Crystals form in the kidneys and permanently damage them So now he s having dialysis every couple of days He went in to have part of his colon removed and is now suffering from renal failure It s horrible They ve known the risks of this for going on 3 years now but the Dr gave it to him anyway So avoidable My father in law is not feeling well obviously My hubby is worried about him We were both in tears leaving today I like to be hopeful typically I say don t worry until you have something quot real quot to worry about at this point it seems very likely it s a permanent thing Which means lifelong weekly dialysis treatments not to mention a reduced life expectancy It s frustrating when you realize how av

Made it to the Vet Hospital
It s been a pretty traumatic day for us kittehs Jasper was transferred to Strathfield Animal Hospital today for further tests and to see a specialist We raced him up there this arvo just in time to catch the vet before the end of the week So far there isn t a definitive answer about what s wrong with him but he does have non regenerative anaemia which is not a good sign Vet says it s likely either Glomerulonephritis which is a yucky problem with his kidneys but treatable or it could be Amyloidosis which is a heriditary condition and not treatable It could also be a form of leukaemia This afternoon he had a blood transfusion and an ultrasound to get a good look at his kidneys He ll probably have a bone marrow test and a kidney biopsy on Monday We ll know more in a few days or so For now cross your fingers and paws for us
Post Op Update
I just got off the phone with Oscar s Surgeon and Oscar is alive and in the recovery room They were unable to remove the tumor because of it s size and the fact that the tumor attached itself to several organs and major blood vessels The Surgeon said that since Oscar came to the Vet this morning with so much energy and life she did not want to risk his quality of life by attempting to remove the tumor Oscar may have to spend the next two days at the vet because of his failing kidney function The Vet is going to keep him on IV s in an attempt to hydrate his kidneys They took a biopsy of the tumor to try to determine what it is The Surgeon said in the remote possibility that it is cancer they may be able to reduce the tumor s size with radiation
