BSG Line in closed captioning but not in final cut

When watching <a href= http www scifi com battlestar >Battlestar Galactica< a> I frequently need to hit the quot back 5 seconds quot button on the TiVo remote and turn on closed captioning the scenes are so realistically filmed and mic d that it s sometimes hard to understand what the characters are saying In this week s episode <a href= http www scifi com battlestar episodes season02 213 > quot Epiphanies quot < a> there s a scene where Starbuck and Apollo discover a little e book inside a sleeper agent s personal belongings I couldn t quite hear what they said so I did the rewind CC trick in between the lines actually uttered there s a line that s in the captioning but cut from the final dialogue quot It s a schematic to an FTL drive quot The information isn t crucial a couple of scenes later Apollo explains to the strike team that they re going to search the FTL system for explosives But I thought it was odd that an excised line of dialogue might survive in this way

The TV dub of anime series <i>Fullmetal Alchemist< i> is closed captioned in house by the subtitlers at dubbing studio FUNimation and surprisingly well at that FUNi s DVDs also used to include a dubtitle track in addition to more accurate subtitles for the Japanese dialogue but apparently people were confused by this feature so they got rid of it Personally I thought it was quite useful given how it can be difficult to hear the dialogue at times and how dubs don t always match the literal translation Here someone is asking whether the Fullmetal Alchemist is in fact the erm vertically challenged guy in the red jacket
