Circa 1900 Children s Cut Out Page of Capitol Building
This is a children s cut out page of the Capitol building in Washington DC from a Ladies Home Journal magazine circa 1900 It was cut in 4 layers and held together with two straight pins If you pull the layers apart you can see the scenery that s behind the layer in front For example if you pull the layer with the Capitol building forward you can see the landscape as if you were looking from the back of the Capitol The Washington Monument looks slightly like the Leaning Tower of Pisa because it s torn a little and bent over I m not sure of the exact date but I m estimating 1900 going by the colors clothing and pieces of a picture on the back of the cut out It was tucked into an 1884 1885 bound copy of Godey s Lady s Book but I know it s not as old as that
