Ulana happened upon this field on her way home from La Plata after crossing the 231 Benedict Bridge This field of tobacco plants contains triangular stands to promote drying of the leaves We don t see as much of this as we used to as many farmers took the <a href= http www outlook umd edu article cfm id=2356 >state of Maryland s 1999 offer to stop farming tobacco< a> in favor of soybeans and other alternatives Although it wasn t the best shooting weather I think it was worth a trip back here with our camera gear to get these shots
