God Bless Shriners Hospital for Children

My grandson Drew has had a power chair since he was two He is extremely skilled with it he can turn on a dime However there are many places that are not accessible for example friends homes without ramps and our favorite vacation spot in Cancun and the chair is far too heavy to lift Insurance denied our request for a manual chair and denied our appeal Enter Shriners Hospital for Children Yesterday Drew received the chair pictured along with a seating system designed especially for him This incredible chair was a gift to Drew God bless the Shriners you have no idea the difference you have made in the lives of Drew and his family

A Special Time with Papa

Our family has had timeshare in Cancun for over twenty years It s always been a special time for us to regroup and celebrate together When we learned that my grandson Drew has SMA a form of muscular dystrophy we were afraid to take him out of the country What would happen if he became ill while we were in Mexico So the first year after his diagnosis I stayed home with Drew while the rest of the family made the annual trip When Drew s doctor learned of our decision he encouraged us to take him with us no matter where we travel This is the third time Drew has been to Cancun and it has become his favorite week of the year Yes it takes us a while to get through airport security with our quot traveling hospital quot but we wouldn t have it any other way
