Laney s Head Injury Staples

Oh the adventures this dog has had Today she had a freak accident While playing outside with her tennis ball she was struck on the head with a golf club My uncle was visiting and decided to take a couple clubs out of the trunk and hit some balls across the yard into the wildlife area Laney was playing with her tennis ball but when she saw my uncle drop the golf ball and start to swing she charged the ball from about 15 feet away I was lucky enough NOT to see her actually get hit but I guess the sound was terrible It was just really bad timing the way she got to the ball at the same time was the club The skin on her head instanly split open It was really gross looking but surprisingly didn t bleed Her skull was actually exposed Laney didnt seem too different She was calm and alert The vet cleaned her up sedated her and stapled her up Because the wound was so large the vet was able to feel around on her skull Sadly she does have a skull fracture They advised there isnt too much you can do and they think she ll be Ok They didnt feel or see any fragments She s on bed rest and pain killers for the next 10 days and under close watch and NO serious play for the next couple months Her last injury required more vet treatment but this one is alot scarier It s one thing to split open you re skin but it s quite another story to suffer a head injury She came home tonight and seemed to be doing well A little out of it because of the meds but overall still Laney Cross your fingers for our Gooby
