July 24 2009 Senator Dodd toured and met with employees at Community Health Center Inc s New Britain location Dodd announced yesterday that Community Health Center Inc was awarded a $1 2 million grant from the U S Department of Health and Human Services through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to complete the expansion of its New Britain site Dodd led the HELP committee s consideration of Affordable Health Choices Act which passed out of Committee last week and would reform our nation s health care system to make health coverage more affordable and accessible for all Americans

Senator Chris Dodd D CT senior member of the Senate Committee on Health Education Labor and Pensions and chairman of its Subcommittee on Children and Families today met with the executive directors of several Connecticut Community Health Centers to discuss the funding their centers are eligible for under the Economic Recovery Package Meeting participants included Alfreda Turner from the Charter Oak Health Center in Hartford Donald Thompson from the Stay Well Health Center in Waterbury Katherine Yacavone from the Southwest Community Health Center in Bridgeport and Evelyn Bamum from the Community Health Care Center Association of Connecticut in Newington
