Abortion pill clue to preventing breast cancer

... The prime ingredient that makes up the 'abortion pill' may also go a long way in preventing certain cases of breast cancer that arise from mutations of particular genes. The substance, Mifepristone, also known as RU-486, inhibits the production of progesterone – the female hormone which is essential for sustaining – and hence contributes in terminating pregnancy. Recently researchers found that mice with mutated genes who were injected with Mifepristone, did not develop breast cancer, as they should have, creating possible hope that this might help human cases as well. ...
