Painkiller abuse replaces heroin, among illicit drug users in Canada

A new study conducted in Canada has provided evidence suggesting that substance abusers are now turning to prescription painkillers or opioid drug abuse, with addiction to narcotics such as Oxycontin, morphine and Percocet, taking the place of heroin. For years now, addiction to heroin has been a major drug problem there, but this recent study which was conducted across seven Canadian cities, reveals newer trends of painkiller abuse replacing heroin, and becoming more and more widespread. ...
