... Rewarming the victims of severe hypothermia usually causes heart failure of varying severity, but little is known about why. In a step toward developing proper rewarming techniques, Norwegian researchers ruled out insufficient oxygen to the heart as the critical variable in whether the heart survives severe hypothermia.
