... The ExCel breast cancer prevention study is back. ExCel was short-circuited before it really got started last year because a study arm included the cox-2 inhibitor celecoxib (Celebrex) that was suddenly pulled off the market due to side effects. Hematologist-oncologist John T. Carpenter, M.D., of UAB''s Comprehensive Cancer Center, said, "ExCel is back on track with a redesigned protocol that will look at the effectiveness of one of the aromatase inhibitors, exemestane (AROMASIN®), as a preventive agent for women at high risk of developing breast cancer... click link for more info. ...
