I'm having trouble breathing at night...is this sleep apnea?

Occasionally...I would say once every couple months...I have a night where I find it nearly impossible to breathe comfortably. I would describe the feeling I have as extremely shallow breathing. My body involuntarily wants to breathe in very little, and exhale very little too. Suddenly, just as I'm about to fall asleep, I jerk from my sleep with the need to suck in air very quickly, as though I haven't been getting enough air (kinda scary!) Anyways, this usually happens when I've had a very busy day, but it happens at other times to.

Sometimes I get strange chest sensations with these symptoms, or even a headache (though maybe I'm just tired)...anyways, am I gonna be all right? Thank you for your help.
