Default What are the best holistic dog food for my 12yr Lhasa Apso?

I currently have him on Purina One Senior and with some research I now know its not the best. I want a dog food with glucosamine to help with his aging body, is this a good idea? The brand I was leaning more towards is Innova Senior, and second is Chicken Soup Senior. I am curious as to what others are feeding their senior dog. Also where can I buy Innova locally in San Antonio. Tx. Thank you for your advice.

You can buy them at one of those specialty pets' stores like Petsmart or Petco or on catalog or mail order like Foster & Smith. I have a 4 years old Lhasa Apso and a 3 years old Pekingese, I feed them California Natural Dry Kibble, Enova dry and moist food, and/or Evo. These are pretty good for their coat...since they have kind of coarse, dry and messy hairs that easily mats, these foods keeps the hair shiny and nice easy to comb and brush. Try them. Hope your dogs like these foods.

Both Innova and Chicken Soup are good foods...I would choose the Innova, though. Here's a list of places that sell it in San Antonio:

Compassionate Care Veterinary Serivces

Building S
San Antonio, TX 78240
(210) 641-4447
Website

Locke Hill Feed
4927 Golden Quail
Suite 105
San Antonio, TX 78240

Pet Supplies "Plus"
15034 San Pedro Ave.
Brook Hollow Shopping Center
San Antonio, TX 78232
(210) 545-6900
Website

Pet Works
6446 N. New Braunfels Ave.
San Antonio, TX 78209

The Wrinkle Dog Boutique/Cane Bella Day Spa
2267 NW Military Hwy
Suite 117
San Antonio, TX 78213
(210) 524-9888

I'm sure many other places carry it or would order it for you...my local Ace Hardware orders California Naturals for me (it's made by the same company)

I like Eagle Pack Holistics Select. I have my dog on it now. I also have had her on Orijen Fish 6 and Innova Evo, but some dogs have a hard time digesting those foods as they are very rich in protein. I think the Eagle Pack is a great balance of healthy proteins, whole grains and fruits/veggies. She loves it too. My dog is also on glucosamine (she has a trick knee and to slow it's progress, we give her some daily) and we just got her little glucosamine/chondroitin chews from 1-800-petmeds. I think each dog responds to different foods on an individual basis, so you should just see what you dog likes most and what seems to give him the best results. Good luck!

Innova and Chicken soup are both good foods, Innova has human grade ingredients which makes it better, but whichever your dog does best on or likes best , go on Natura foods website they have a store locator to find a local store
