The American Institute for Cancer Research was incorporated in 1981 and began its programs in cancer research and education in 1983. AICR is the only major national cancer charity focusing exclusively in the area of diet, nutrition and cancer. With scientists estimating that 40% to 60% of all cancers are linked to our diets, and that 35% of cancer deaths are diet-related, this is an area of research and education which offers enormous potential for reducing cancer incidence and mortality. AICR provides programs in both cancer research and cancer education, helping to bring recent and reliable research results to consumers in a form which can help the public make changes for lower cancer risk.
