The Office of Health Affairs has the lead agency responsibility for liaison with health professional organizations, foreign countries, and international health organizations. OHA also coordinates activities on cross-cutting issues that can't be dealt with at the center level, such as protection of human subjects, institutional review boards, Healthy People 2000, the NIH Office of Alternative Medicine, and technical assistance to foreign governments.
