You have to be careful not to use table salt though. I think they sell those salt water rinses at the store. I just checked on line and this is how you can make your own. ½ to 1 teaspoon non-iodized salt (such as pickling or canning salt) ... The Zinc throat lozenges really have kept my colds to a minimum. After 2-3 days, though, nothing tastes right because of the metal (zinc) stuff in the lozenges, but we aren't smelling correctly anyway. ...
